The St. Mary’s
Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church Sunday School Sydney was established
on 18 Feb 2007 immediately after the formation of our congregation.
Sunday school functions after the Holy
Qurbana with prayer and a devotional song, with classes from
kindergarten to year X, where our children are taught to live
and learn in our God.
To inculcate religious beliefs and encourage
children’s participation and to develop congregational
community fellowship feeling in them, various activities like
picture coloring for kindergarten, prayer song, sports
and games, elocution, devotionals songs, Bible spotting, Bible
quiz, singing competition are
programmed and conducted regularly. |

The Youth of St Mary’s Jacobite
Church, though a small group has been active in the development
of the church and in organising a lot of social activities.
The first meeting of the youth was held in October 2006, where
members decided the age group and leaders for the Youth movement.
Subsequent meetings dealt with the organisation of the group
and activities it could take part in. One of the first activities
the youth took active part in was the Food Fair organised by
the Women of the church. The youth members helped in organising
the stalls, catering and also advertising on the day. The youth
movement also organised the Christmas programs in the church
and also helped organise the Sunday school programs. In 2009
the movement fully coordinated and organised the Church picnic. |

A get together of womenfolk in Christ.
The movement swung into action with the Food Fair of 2006. The
ladies of the church always take keen interest in the day-to-day
running of the church. |
